About Community Insurance Services

Community Insurance Services (CIS) was established in July 2020 as a consortium designed to assist community banks in the offering of retail and commercial insurance products.

Through CIS, community banks are provided access to a digital platform that allows their customers the ability to purchase more than 35 protection products offered by 40 insurance carriers. CIS maintains the insurance license and co-branded website for the consortium, monitors carrier ratings and stability, conducts employee training, provides monthly sales reports and delivers sales best practices to its members.

Historically, banks have faced substantial entry barriers in order to offer insurance products, such as establishing an agency or new subsidiary, making a large investment into a partner program and hiring licensed employees. CIS breaks down these entry barriers for community banks, enabling them to meet more of their customer needs, increase non-interest income and reduce the opportunities to competitive incursion.
