Future Bank Leaders
Through mentorship, internships, scholarships, and industry-recognized certification, the Future Bank Leaders initiative empowers students while strengthening the banking talent pipeline and ensuring a strong future for our industry.
A Look to the Future of North Carolina Banking
How is the Future Bank Leaders program shaping the next generation of diverse banking professionals? This NCBA initiative, in partnership with HBCUs and North Carolina banks, provides students with mentorship, resources, and the chance to earn the RMA Credit Essentials Certificate—all at no cost. The result? Greater career opportunities for students and a stronger, more diverse banking industry. Those earning the CEC certificate typically have a nine-month advantage in knowledge and skill set compared to those that don’t, which often leads to higher starting salaries at banks.

The Future Bank Leaders program offers a variety of effective resources to partnering HBCUs, including:
- Introduction to the key concepts of banking and credit
- Opportunity for students to earn the industry-recognized Risk Management Association (RMA) Credit Essentials Certificate (CEC)
- Faculty support via bankers as guest instructors
- Electronic materials including instructor guides, textbooks, workbooks, case studies
- Scholarships
- Internships
- Mentoring from senior bank leaders
- Networking with peers and banking professionals
- One-on-one career guidance
