The NC Emerging Leaders Mentorship Program connects emerging banking professionals with experienced leaders for six months of honest conversation, career perspective and mutual growth.

How It Works

Built to Fit Real Careers and Real Schedules

The program provides structure and support while giving each mentor-mentee pair the flexibility to build a relationship that works for them.

Who Can Participate?

Mentees may be any member of NC Emerging Leaders. Mentors are experienced bankers from NCBA member banks who want to share their perspective and experience.

When Does It Happen?

The 2027 program runs from January 1 through June 30. Mentor and mentee pairings are made by members of the NC Emerging Leaders Council.

How Do We Meet?

Meet virtually, in person or use a mix of both. The program includes an in-person kickoff and closing meeting; everything in between is arranged by each pair.

Suggested Roadmap

Six Months of Focused Growth

A successful mentoring relationship does not have to consume your calendar. This suggested roadmap provides enough structure to keep things moving while leaving room for each partnership to develop naturally.

Recommended Commitment About 10 Hours Total across the six-month program

Month 1

Lay the Foundation

  • Complete the mentee goal-setting worksheet
  • Schedule a discovery call
  • Review program roles and guidelines

Months 2–3

Set the Direction

  • Establish goals and measures for success
  • Develop a shared action plan
  • Decide how and when you will stay in touch
03
Months 4–6

Put the Plan to Work

  • Take action toward your goals
  • Ask for feedback and adjust as needed
  • Schedule a wrap-up meeting in Month 6

After the Program

Reflect and Stay Connected

  • Reflect on what you learned
  • Thank your mentoring partner
  • Stay connected—or participate again
