Federal Government Relations
The federal government has the power to shape the business of banking in profound ways. The NCBA works closely with our state and national trade association partners like ABA and ICBA to establish a clear, consistent message on issues of importance to our members.
North Carolina has two senators in the U.S. Senate (we elect two senators for staggered six-year terms and they represent the entire state) and 14 representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives (each legislative district elects a representative to the House for a two-year term).
The NCBA’s federal government relations takes a number of forms, including calls and meetings with members of the North Carolina delegation in Congress and with government officials, submitting comment letters, arranging banker fly-ins and meetings with elected officials during our Washington summits throughout the year, and coordinating grassroots advocacy initiatives. If you have any questions regarding the NCBA’s work in Washington, please contact Peter Gwaltney (984-344-9999 or peter@ncbankers.org) or Nathan Batts (984-344-9985 or nathan@ncbankers.org).
