A Fond Farewell to OCOB’s Edenton Office

The North Carolina State Banking Commission met on Wednesday for a regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting was historic as this is projected to be the last meeting of the Banking Commission to be held in the hearing room at 316 W Edenton Street in downtown Raleigh.

For decades, the Edenton Street office has been the gathering place as bank organizers, board members, and executives have traveled to Raleigh to meet with the Commissioner of Banks, Commission members, and the staff and subject matter experts at the Office of the Commissioner of Banks (OCOB). The OCOB is in the process now of relocating its operations to leased space in an office park near Atlantic Avenue and Highwoods Boulevard in Raleigh. In addition to discussing the move, the State Banking Commission received a presentation on and then voted to approve OCOB’s 2025-2026 budget. The next State Banking Commission meeting is slated for August 20 and is expected to be held in the new office space.
