The General Assembly briefly reconvened this week and wrapped up its business within two days. Legislators adopted a revised adjournment resolution (SJR 776) that tweaked their planned schedule for the remainder of the year and into next year. The revised session dates are now:
- October 20 – October 23
- November 17 – November 20
- December 15 – December 18
- January 12 – January 15
- February 9 – February 12
- March 9 – March 12
- April 6 – April 9
- April 21 (with an end date not specified).
The General Assembly approved a continuing budget operations bill (H 358), which, among other things, appropriates $65.5 million to various agencies for disaster relief and recovery from Tropical Storm Chantal that caused flooding in a number of NC counties in July.
The General Assembly also approved a regulatory reform bill (H 926), which includes a provision in Section 14 that clarifies that certain named agencies must give the parties in a contested case hearing at least 30 days of notice (the provision would now apply to additional agencies and units of government, including the Office of the Commissioner of Banks). These bills will be sent to the Governor.
