NCEL Mentorship Program
We match leaders not just to teach, but to grow together. Because the best guidance happens when learning goes both ways.
Built on trust, shaped by experience, and strengthened through connection.
The NC Emerging Leaders Mentor/Mentee Program is a six-month experience designed to connect professionals for honest conversation, career insight, and mutual growth. Whether you’re looking to share your experience or gain perspective from someone who’s been there, this program creates space for meaningful professional relationships to form.
Who Can Participate?
Any member of the NC Emerging Leaders group is eligible to join the program as a mentee. Experienced bankers from all NCBA member banks are encouraged to apply to serve as mentors.
When Does It Happen?
The 2026 session runs from January 1 to June 30. Mentor and mentee pairings are assigned by members of the NC Emerging Leaders Council.
Where Does This Take Place?
Wherever works best for you! You can meet virtually, in person, or a mix of both—it’s entirely up to the participants.
What’s Expected?
We recommend planning for about 10 hours total over six months. Here’s a suggested structure:
Month 1:
Laying the Foundation
- Complete the mentee goal-setting worksheet
- Schedule a discovery call
- Review the roles and guidelines
Months 2–3:
Goal Setting & Planning
- Set goals and metrics for your mentoring relationship
- Develop a shared action plan
- Decide how and when you’ll stay in touch
Months 4–6:
Taking Action
- Put your plan into action
- Ask for feedback
- Adjust your approach as needed
- Schedule a wrap-up meeting in Month 6
After the Program: Reflection & Follow Up
- Reflect on what you’ve learned
- Thank your mentoring partner
- Stay in touch—or sign up for another round!
